Job summary

Stantec in Wellington is recruiting a Mechanical Engineering Cadet to start a career with on‑the‑job learning and study support. No prior engineering experience is required as you will learn through practical work and formal papers toward the NZ Diploma in Engineering.

You will gain exposure to drinking water, wastewater and stormwater projects, assist with CAD and drafting, site visits, and data analysis while developing your technical and teamwork skills within a global engineering practice.

Qualifications

• Interest in Mechanical Engineering and keen to complete papers toward the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering.
• Minimum 48 NCEA Level 2 credits in best 4 subjects including Maths, Graphics and a Science related subject.
• Ability for and open to further learning with good study habits.
• Current full Driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site visits to review project progress and perform safety checks.
• Learn Stantec's CAD and Digital Engineering systems and procedures.
• Support Project Delivery with producing technical drawings or 3D models.
• Assist project management with various project stages.
• Learn data analysis and basic design calculations.
• Assist with work on drinking water and wastewater plants.
