Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Technician in Queenstown to support our engineering team. You will create and modify detailed 2D/3D drawings and models from engineers' concepts, ensuring accuracy for manufacturing and assembly.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, has 1–3 years CAD experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Inventor, and a strong grasp of GD&T and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Diploma or National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• 1–3 years of experience as a CAD technician or drafter.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
• Good understanding of mechanical components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
• Basic knowledge of GD&T is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and modify detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings according to engineering specifications.
• Assist engineers in the creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other documentation.
• Ensure all drawings comply with company standards and industry best practices for clarity and accuracy.
• Support the prototyping and testing phases by providing necessary design files and documentation.
• Maintain and organize engineering drawing archives and revisions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to resolve documentation-related queries.
