Job summary

AWF New Zealand is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Assembler to join a growing manufacturing team in Hastings. Training is provided, and candidates with or without previous assembly experience are welcome to apply.

You'll work with engineers and fabricators to assemble components, follow drawings, maintain safety and quality, and contribute to continuous improvement while meeting production deadlines.

Qualifications

• Mechanically minded with a practical, hands-on approach.
• Fast learner with a willingness to develop new skills.
• Team player with a strong work ethic.
• High attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Previous mechanical assembly experience or hands-on experience using tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical components and equipment according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
• Install and fit hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems on towing and recovery equipment
• Safely and efficiently use hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery
• Perform mechanical adjustments, alignments, and torque settings to ensure correct operation
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment while following health and safety procedures
• Work collaboratively with engineers, welders, fabricators, and other production team members to meet production deadlines
• Record assembly and quality control information as required
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and product quality
