Job summary

Foodstuffs North Island is seeking a reliable Butchery Assistant for our Auckland team. This hands-on role is in a fast-paced store where food safety, accuracy, and teamwork are essential. You will help pack, weigh, label and display meat products while adhering to high safety standards.

Full training in food safety and equipment use is provided. You will join a supportive, locally owned business with opportunities for development within the store’s award-winning team.

Qualifications

• Strong commitment to learning food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Good communication and attention to detail.
• Reliable with commitment to the fixed roster.
• Previous food handling or packing experience is a bonus; full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Packing, weighing, labelling, and displaying a wide range of meat products.
• Ensuring all products meet high food safety and quality standards.
• Following strict processes for temperature checks, storage, rotation, and allergen controls.
• Maintaining excellent hygiene and cleanliness across all work areas.
• Using department equipment safely (full training provided).
• Supporting the team with stock rotation, cleaning, and keeping displays full and fresh.
