Job summary

Northern Southland College in Lumsden, Southland, invites applications for Head of Mathematics. You will lead the Mathematics department across Years 7–15/wharekura, shaping teaching and curriculum with a knowledge-rich approach and a strong equity focus.

The successful candidate will hold a current NZ Teaching Council practising certificate, be proficient with NCEA, and foster whanau and community links while promoting Te Ao Māori.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current practising certificate issued by the New Zealand Teaching Council.
• Experience leading mathematics teaching and curriculum development.
• Commitment to Te Ao Māori in the curriculum.
• Excellent knowledge of NCEA requirements.
• Willingness to contribute to school culture and community links.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Mathematics department with strategic direction.
• Design and promote a knowledge-rich, equity-focused curriculum.
• Support teachers and foster whanau and community relationships.
• Contribute to extra-curricular activities and PB4L values.
