Job summary

Inghams Chickens is hiring a Maintenance Fitter for the Waitoa site on a 4 on / 4 off roster, offering steady work-life balance and guaranteed days off each rotation.

You will report to the Maintenance Supervisor, performing planned, preventive and reactive maintenance to keep the plant running smoothly and minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• We have a trade and hands-on mechanical experience.
• 3+ years in a similar industry.
• Strong problem-solving skills under pressure.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Reliable, punctual and a genuine team player.
• Experience with production machinery is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to machinery breakdowns and implement repair plans quickly.
• Diagnose faults, fault-find and repair industrial equipment.
• Set up plant and equipment for efficient start-ups.
• Oiling, cleaning and general upkeep of equipment.
• Complete planned and preventive maintenance works.
• Basic fabrication and welding.
• Overhaul plant equipment and coordinate with Production to align maintenance with production needs.

Job Description

Are you a hands-on tradesperson looking for a stable roster and a role where no two days are the same? Inghams is looking for a Maintenance Fitter to join our Waitoa site on a 4 on / 4 off roster - great work-life balance with a guaranteed block of days off every rotation.

About the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you'll be responsible for keeping our plant running smoothly carrying out planned, preventive and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and keep production moving.

What You'll Be Doing

• Responding to machinery breakdowns and getting repair plans into action fast
• Diagnostics, fault-finding and repair of industrial equipment
• Setting up plant and equipment for efficient start-ups
• Recalibrating instruments, oiling, cleaning and general equipment upkeep
• Completing planned and preventive maintenance works
• Basic fabrication and welding
• Carrying out overhauls on plant equipment
• Working closely with the Production team to plan maintenance around production needs

What We're Looking For

We're open-minded on background if you've got a trade and hands-on mechanical experience, we want to hear from you. This includes fitters, mechanics, plumbers, and other trade-qualified candidates who are keen to bring their skills to a manufacturing environment.

• Minimum 3 years' mechanical experience in a similar industry
• Solid understanding of mechanical maintenance and production machinery
• Some electrical maintenance knowledge is a bonus, but not essential
• Ability to work under pressure with strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Reliable, punctual, and a genuine team player
