ASSA ABLOY NZ in Auckland is seeking a Night Shift Maintenance Engineer at our Albany/Rosedale site to keep manufacturing running safely and efficiently. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns and drive continuous improvement while ensuring ISO 9001 compliance.

Collaboration with Production, Operations and Engineering teams and strong hands-on problem solving are essential for uptime and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a maintenance engineering role.
  • Level 4 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Strong skills in maintenance planning, root cause analysis and LEAN methods.

Responsibilities

  • Provide maintenance support across production machinery to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Deliver preventative maintenance activities as part of the TPM program.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify and prevent recurring equipment issues.
  • Document maintenance activities using the CMMS.
  • Support the maintenance and reliability of site services.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational and environmental performance.
  • Maintain compliance with quality, safety and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with production, engineering and operations teams, including shift handovers.

Join ASSA ABLOY as a Night Shift Maintenance Engineer at our Albany Rosedale facility in Auckland. You'll play a key role in keeping our manufacturing operation running safely and efficiently by minimising downtime, improving equipment reliability and supporting production targets.

About the Role

As our Night Shift Maintenance Engineer, you'll help keep production running by maintaining equipment, resolving breakdowns and preventing future failures. Working closely with Production, Operations and Engineering teams, you'll troubleshoot machinery issues, complete preventative maintenance and drive continuous improvement across the site. Your work will directly impact equipment reliability, uptime and production performance.

What You'll Be Responsible For:
  • Provide maintenance support across production machinery to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Deliver preventative maintenance activities as part of the Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) program.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify and prevent recurring equipment issues.
  • Document maintenance activities using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Support the maintenance and reliability of site services.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational and environmental performance.
  • Maintain compliance with quality, safety and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with production, engineering and operations teams, including shift handovers.
About You

You're a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys solving problems, improving equipment reliability and working safely in a manufacturing environment. You communicate well, adapt to changing priorities and take pride in delivering quality outcomes while working collaboratively with others.

We're looking for someone who brings:
  • A Level 4 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or similar qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar maintenance engineering role.
  • Strong mechanical engineering skills including fitting and turning, welding, pneumatics, hydraulics, and the use of power and hand tools.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Experience applying root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Experience working within a LEAN manufacturing environment.
  • SolidWorks or other CAD software experience would be advantageous.
