Job summary

Madisonrecruitment is seeking a proactive Maintenance Coordinator for a busy chemical manufacturing site in Christchurch. Based at Hornby, you will coordinate maintenance and reliability programmes, manage contractors and oversee preventative maintenance to maximise plant uptime.

Reporting to the Site Maintenance Engineer, you’ll document activities, prioritise planned work and support continuous improvement projects within a 24/7 production environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications and experience in maintenance planning and coordination.
• Experience administering Permit to Work systems is advantageous.
• Strong contractor management and documentation skills.
• Proven focus on safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

Are you an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys planning, coordinating and driving reliability across a busy industrial site? We’re looking for a proactive Maintenance Coordinator to join a close-knit team and play a key role in ensuring plant performance, safety and operational excellence.

Based in Hornby, this position offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to make a real impact within a high-performing chemical manufacturing environment, where safety, reliability and attention to detail are critical to operational success.

About the Role

Reporting to the Site Maintenance Engineer, you’ll coordinate maintenance and reliability programmes, manage contractors, oversee preventative maintenance activities and support continuous improvement projects.

Operating within a safety-critical manufacturing site, you will be responsible for ensuring maintenance activities are planned, executed and documented to the highest standards. You will play a key role in maintaining plant uptime, managing risk, supporting safe work practices and ensuring compliance with site procedures and regulatory requirements.

Working across a complex chemical manufacturing operation, you’ll utilise SAP to manage maintenance planning, purchase orders, permits, contractor activities and maintenance documentation, while supporting engineering projects across a 24/7 production environment.

What You’ll Bring

• Trade, Mechanical or Electrical background
• Experience in maintenance planning, coordination or supervision
• Strong contractor management experience
• Administering and managing Permit to Work systems is advantageous
• Ability to prioritise planned and reactive maintenance activities in a fast-paced environment
• High level of attention to detail with a strong focus on compliance and accurate documentation
• SAP or CMMS experience
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Positive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving capability
• Commitment to maintaining high safety and operational standards
