Job summary

Bayonet is seeking a dedicated Machine Operator to join our Tauriko-based team in Tauranga. In this hands-on role you’ll manufacture our range of wire and underlay products for rural and construction sectors, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and efficiency.

You will operate production machinery, assist with set-ups, perform pre-start checks, and help maintain a clean, safe workplace. On-the-job training is provided, with overtime rates and shift allowances as part of a competitive pay

Qualifications

• Ideally 1-year experience in machining/manufacturing environments.
• Basic maths and English skills.
• Mechanically minded with understanding of production machinery.
• Team player with strong work ethic.
• Commitment to health & safety practices.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Physically fit with heavy lifting (20+ kg).
• Able to work flexible hours.
• Forklift licence and experience a plus.
• Experience with wire and underlay products is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Operate production machinery, turning raw materials into finished products.
• Assist with machine set-ups and changeovers.
• Perform pre-start checks and routine maintenance.
• Organise and thread new wire coils through machinery.
• Maintain neat presentation of finished products.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor breakdowns.
• Complete job sheets and other admin tasks as required.
• Support the distribution team when needed.
• Strictly adhere to safety and quality standards.
• Report safety incidents and participate in investigations.
• Contribute to maintaining a clean, organised workplace.
