Job summary

Working In is seeking permanent full-time Machine Operators (Paving) to join the Asphalt Paving crew in the Wellington region. You’ll operate rollers, pavers, graders, tractor brooms and trucks as part of a skilled team on public roads and motorways.

The role offers a competitive hourly rate from $30 ph to $35 ph for the right candidate, with brand new PPE and a supportive team culture. You may be required to travel to nearby regions and work nights or stays as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year operating one or more paving/roading machines.
• Must hold a current Class 1 Driver’s Licence or overseas equivalent.
• Able to pass pre-employment drug and health checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment including rollers, pavers, graders, tractor brooms and trucks.
• Work predominantly on public roads and motorways.
• Be flexible with shifts, including nights and stays away as required.

Job description

The team in Wellington is looking for permanent full-time Machine Operators (Paving) to join the Asphalt Paving crew.

You will be joining one of the paving crews who are skilled in asphalt and work the majority of the time on public roads and motorways. No two days will be the same!

You’ll be operating a range of equipment ranging from rollers, pavers, graders, tractor brooms and trucks. There is also the opportunity to up-skill within this department.

This is a full time, permanent role working a minimum of 40 hours per week between Monday and Sunday, inclusive. You will be based in Wellington region. You may also be required to travel or relocate to these other regions including Hawke's Bay, Manawatu-Whanganui, Bay of Plenty.

What you’ll bring to the role:

Minimum full Class 1 Drivers License or overseas equivalent Minimum 1-years’ experience in operating one or more of the following

• Roller
• Paver, Chip Sealing
• Grader
• Tractor Broom, Trucks

Minimum 2-year roading and infrastructure experience Prefer WTR licence or overseas equivalent Prefer with knowledge on First Aid Qualification and Bitumen Safety course Able to work nights / stay aways as required Self-motivated with a positive attitude and the ability to think for yourself A high level of physical fitness due to the physical nature of the role Be reliable, honest and a flexible team player
