Job summary

Heartland Bank LTD in Auckland seeks an experienced Retail & Reverse Mortgage Risk and Compliance Manager to join our Line 1 Risk Transformation team. You’ll work with business leaders to embed risk and compliance into everyday decisions and operations, influencing regulatory responses and incident management.

You will join a collaborative team and report to the Head of Risk Transformation with no direct reports, shaping risk practices across the business.

Qualifications

• Experience in Operational Risk or Compliance within Banking or Financial Services.
• Ability to build trusted relationships and influence positive change.
• Comfortable moving between detailed analysis and strategic conversations.

Responsibilities

• Lead practical and meaningful risk and control assessments.
• Test whether important controls are appropriately designed and working effectively.
• Support the business through product, process, system and regulatory change.
• Translate regulatory obligations into clear processes and controls.
• Manage risk and compliance incidents and issues through investigation and remediation.
• Monitor risk indicators and identify developing trends.
• Support governance reporting, management attestations and assurance activity.
• Strengthen business continuity planning and operational resilience.
• Build risk capability through targeted guidance, training and constructive challenge.
