Job summary

LANcom Technology in Wellington Central is seeking a Level 2 Systems Engineer to join our Managed Services team. You will support and maintain client computing environments, act as escalation for junior staff, and contribute to entry-level automation under senior guidance.

This role requires at least 3 years in an IT MSP, a BSc in Computer Science or similar, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years in a fast-paced IT Managed Services environment.
  • Degree in BSc in Computer Science or similar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate technical solutions into simple language and back to technical.
  • Strong time management and attention to detail.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Adaptability and ability to learn new skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer centric approach.
  • Working towards relevant cloud/office certifications such as AWS/Azure/M365.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve IT Systems Hardware and Software issues (Desktops, Server, Networking, Cloud Compute Environments and Printers)
  • Monitor and resolve client backup issues and perform restores
  • Work with 3rd Party vendors to install, maintain and fix peripheral equipment such as Printers and Phone Systems
  • Participate in new client onboarding projects
  • Facilitate end user training on key applications (Word, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Configure server environments and infrastructure, including setup of new complex devices such as servers
  • Perform server and desktop software installation and setup of peripherals
  • Provide onsite support to set up servers, PCs and other devices
  • Act as an internal point of contact for Graduate/Tier 1 systems engineers, assessing initial investigations and providing direction to best path of resolution
  • Coach and train Graduate and Tier 1 System Engineers to develop their capability to resolve more complex issues

The Opportunity

We're seeking a Level 2 Systems Engineer works as part of a support team to manage and maintain customer computing environments. This is a technical role, providing support and acting as a point of escalation for junior pod members and is responsible for entry level automation, proactive maintenance, issue resolution and on-site customer support as required. The Level 2 Systems Engineer also carries out low complexity changes that may have significant impact and improvement to a customer's business under the guidance of a Level 3 Systems Engineer.

What you'll Bring
