Maritime NZ is seeking a Legal Secretary to support the Legal Services team in delivering regulatory and legal responsibilities. You will work closely with the Chief Legal Advisor and colleagues to provide top‑quality secretarial, administrative, and coordination support.
The role involves legal administration, diary management, travel arrangements and assisting on legal projects, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality and teamwork within a government agency.

The Regulatory Frameworks and Technical Support Group plays a central role in shaping and delivering MaritimeNZ’s strategic goals. It influences the maritime regulatory system both internationally and domestically and leads the end‑to‑end development of the framework — from planning and policy through to implementation.
Within this group, Legal Services delivers expert legal advice that supports the Director and Authority and decision makers across MaritimeNZ to achieve our outcomes. Legal advice covers areas such as public and international law, litigation, incident response, and commercial and property law.
As Legal Secretary, you'll play a vital role in supporting Maritime NewZealand's Legal Services team. In this role you will be helping to ensure the organisation can effectively deliver its regulatory and legal responsibilities. Working closely with the Chief Legal Advisor, Legal Services Managers and the wider legal team, you'll provide high-quality legal secretarial, administrative and coordination support.
This is a varied role where you'll be involved in legal administration, financial processing, diary and meeting coordination, workflow management, travel arrangements, and supporting key legal projects and initiatives.

Salary range $67,425 to $82,408 depending on skills and experience + superannuation.
