Office of the Ombudsman in Wellington invites you to join our Learning and Capability team as a Learning Designer. You will lead the design and development of learner-centric, innovative, future-focused learning programmes for internal and external audiences.
Collaborating with subject matter experts, you will create engaging experiences delivered through eLearning, face-to-face workshops, webinars, and on-the-job training, using tools like Articulate 360 and Totara LMS.
The Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all.

Public confidence in government institutions is under pressure. The Office of the Ombudsman in a constitutionally independent role critical to the success of good administration. Demand for our services is growing and New Zealanders need us to show up in new ways and be more accessible and impactful. We have just completed an organisational transformation, and we are evolving how we do our mahi to have greater impact. The Learning and Capability team is responsible for building and enhancing organisational capability through capability frameworks, leadership development and learning pathways. The team is also responsible for developing learning for use by externals audiences. The team is made up of two Senior roles, three Learning Designers and two Learning Coordinators.
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Learning and Capability team as a Learning Designer. Reporting to the Manager Learning and Capability, you will lead the design and development of learner-centric, innovative, future-focused learning programmes, including organisational and systems learning, operational practice and external agency development programmes.
Collaborating closely with internal colleagues and subject matter experts, you will create relevant, engaging, and sustainable learning experiences delivered through diverse channels such as eLearning, face-to-face workshops, webinars, and on-the-job training.

Appointees will be subject to a criminal convictions check and may be required to achieve and maintain a NZ Government (NZSIS) security clearance. Depending on skills and experience the salary is expected to be between $98,182 to $128,864 with $122,728 being the mid-point.
This role is based in Wellington. Please note we are unable to consider 100% remote working for this role.
