Job summary

Fitzroy Engineering Group in Wellington is looking for a Mechanical Foreman to lead site maintenance and project works. You will oversee teams of 5-10, coordinate daily activities, ensure health and safety compliance, and act as a key liaison with clients and stakeholders.

The role demands a strong mechanical background, leadership ability, and a commitment to safety. Competitive salary and allowances apply, with a guaranteed 40-hour week.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years' experience as a Fitter/Welder in industrial maintenance, shutdowns or projects in piping and petrochemical/Oil & Gas.
• Minimum 2 years' work experience as a Mechanical Lead.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to plan work, manage resources, and meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance and project teams to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.
• Champion HSE standards through toolbox talks, inspections, and risk management.
• Plan, assign, and monitor work to ensure timely delivery.
• Coordinate labour, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Ensure quality workmanship and compliance with site and company standards.
• Complete reports, timesheets, and project documentation.
• Coach, support, and develop team members.
• Ensure equipment is maintained, inspected, and fit for use.
