Job summary

RealNZ invites applications for a Launch Master to lead and oversee the operation of the historic TSS Earnslaw aboard the Queenstown line. You’ll supervise crew, deliver safety briefings, and ensure exceptional guest experiences on Lake Whakatipu.

The role requires strong leadership, a hands-on approach with vessels in the region, and a focus on safety, maintenance, and customer service. Training and support are provided on site.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership, people management and communication skills.
• Skilled in training, mentoring and coaching crew and upcoming skippers.
• SRL endorsed 500T with Passenger Endorsement.
• Proficiency in first aid and safety systems.
• In-depth knowledge of RealNZ operations and local history.
• Experience operating multiple vessels in the South with a hands-on approach.
• Exceptional customer service and vessel commentary.

Responsibilities

• Take full operational responsibility for the safe and efficient running of the TSS Earnslaw and its crew.
• Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and RealNZ standards.
• Oversee vessel maintenance and support food, beverage and bar service.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation across areas.
• Provide engaging commentary and warm hospitality to guests.
