WM New Zealand is seeking an experienced Electrical & Automation Senior Project Engineer to join our Engineering and Asset Management team. You will lead capital projects across our nationwide operations, delivering plant upgrades, control system improvements, and reliability initiatives.

This hands-on role requires PLC programming, electrical design reviews, fault diagnostics, contractor management and close collaboration with operations to improve energy efficiency and compliance with NZ

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related field.
Experience designing, troubleshooting, and commissioning electrical power, control and automation systems.
Experience with PLC programming and fault finding on major platforms.

Responsibilities

Lead electrical and automation capital projects from concept through commissioning.
Design, specify and manage upgrades to electrical distribution and automation systems.
Develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs to improve plant performance.
Support fault finding and root cause analysis of complex failures across plants.
Manage electrical & mechanical contractors and system integrators to deliver projects safely and on time.
Review electrical drawings, control philosophies, and contractor deliverables.
Lead commissioning activities and ensure thorough handover documentation.
