Job summary

Fried eggs on Toast Ltd in Nelson, NZ seeks a Chef - Head / Sous & Chef de Partie for full-time, shift-based work across five venues. Must be available for a 7-day rotating roster, willing to cover shifts at any site as needed. Pay ranges from $30.00 to $35.00 per hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities include menu design, budget monitoring, staff supervision and ensuring health and safety in the kitchen. Immediate start offered for a busy, guest-focused operation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years relevant cookery experience in restaurants.
• Sound experience preferred over formal cookery qualifications.
• A high level of personal cleanliness.
• Able to organise efficient work schedules and work under pressure.
• Good communication skills and punctuality.
• Flexibility regarding rostered hours and place of work within Nelson.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organise preparation and cooking for operations, events, conferences, luncheons and private dining.
• Develop and monitor kitchen budgets including labour, ingredients and equipment costs.
• Design and plan menus based on seasonal trends and costs.
• Oversee recruitment, development and training of Chefs and kitchen staff.
• Assign tasks and responsibilities to Chefs and Cooks.
• Oversee preparation and presentation of dishes and ensure quality standards.
