Job summary

Corrections in Whanganui seeks a Principal Case Manager to oversee the Case Management Team, guiding rehabilitation and reintegration for people in custody. You will coach staff, coordinate pathways from prison entry to release, and partner with Probation, health services and other agencies to reduce re-offending.

The role requires strong leadership, resilience, and the ability to manage resources while aligning with the Hōkai Rangi strategy and departmental values.

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge and experience of the tasks undertaken by case management or community corrections, including leadership.
• Experience in managing resources and leading teams to deliver outcomes.
• Strong relationship management and communication skills.
• Ability to lead with influence, motivate and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Case Management Team delivering rehabilitation and reintegration support for people in custody.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and performance support to staff.
• Develop clear pathways from entry to release with collaborative execution of individual plans.
• Coordinate with Probation, Health Services, and external partners to reduce re-offending.
