Job summary

Suncorp New Zealand is seeking a Lead - BI & Analytics Platforms to provide technical leadership across our reporting and analytics landscape. You will establish platform standards, governance, and scalable analytics solutions to support business needs.

You’ll collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose BI/analytics, champion modern tooling, and drive adoption while fostering an innovative analytics community.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in business intelligence, analytics or data environments.
• Strong expertise in Power BI and experience with Tableau or Cognos.
• Advanced SQL skills and Python experience.
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket and development lifecycle best practices.
• Experience developing governance frameworks, standards and scalable analytics solutions.

Responsibilities

• Establish development and governance standards for BI and analytics platforms.
• Act as SME across enterprise BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Cognos).
• Develop and embed best practices in BI development, data modelling and dashboards.
• Champion modern analytics tooling including Python, Posit, Git and Bitbucket.
• Support delivery, maintenance and optimisation of reporting and dashboards.
• Coach and uplift analytics capability through training and guidance.
• Identify opportunities to improve automation, scalability and performance.
• Partner with stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Explore adoption of AI and large language models.

What You'll Be Doing

As the BI & Analytics Platforms Lead, you'll provide technical leadership and governance across our reporting and analytics landscape, ensuring our tools, processes and platforms are scalable, efficient and aligned to business needs.

You’ll

• Establish the development and evolution of BI and analytics platform standards, frameworks and governance practices.
• Act as the SME across enterprise BI platforms including Power BI, Tableau and Cognos.
• Develop and embed best practice in BI development, data modelling, dashboard design, code management and deployment processes.
• Champion modern analytics tooling including Python, Posit, Git and Bitbucket.
• Support the delivery, maintenance and optimisation of reporting and dashboard solutions across the business.
• Coach and uplift capability within the wider analytics community through training, guidance and knowledge sharing.
• Identify opportunities to improve automation, scalability and performance across analytics solutions.
• Partner with business, technology and analytics stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Explore and support the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI and large language model (LLM) capabilities.

What You’ll Bring

We're looking for a technically strong analytics professional who enjoys improving how teams work, establishing best practice and influencing outcomes across a complex environment.

• Significant experience in business intelligence, analytics or data environments.
• Strong expertise in Power BI and experience with enterprise BI platforms such as Tableau or Cognos.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience working with Python.
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket and development lifecycle best practices.
• Experience developing governance frameworks, standards and scalable analytics solutions.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven capability to improve processes, drive adoption and lead without direct authority.
• A passion for innovation and leveraging emerging technologies to create business value.
• General insurance experience will be highly regarded.
• Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative, technical or related discipline.
