Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is seeking a Team Lead in Asset Management Planning to lead a specialist team responsible for creating detailed lifecycle plans and 10-year forward works programmes that inform investment decisions across the state highway network.

The role focuses on people leadership while staying connected to technical work, combining asset data with investment priorities to achieve value-for-money outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading, coaching and developing people or specialist teams.
• Strong asset management knowledge and credibility to advise across a complex org.
• Experience developing lifecycle plans or forward works programmes.
• Ability to coordinate multiple workstreams and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and develop a team of asset management planning specialists.
• Oversee lifecycle management plans and 10-year forward works programmes.
• Align asset solutions with strategic direction, funding requirements and value-for-money expectations.
• Strengthen asset management processes, templates, guidance and organisational capability.
• Provide specialist advice, review and support across regional teams and external suppliers.
• Build effective relationships across Asset Management, Maintenance and Operations, programme offices, delivery teams and industry partners.
• Undertake horizon scanning and help improve the systems and practices that support national asset management planning.
