Job summary

Fulton Hogan Ltd in Tauranga is seeking an Asphalt Leading Hand to lead and coordinate an on-site asphalt crew. This hands-on role delivers quality workmanship safely, from site setup to final finish, while keeping the team productive and engaged.

You’ll bring proven asphalt paving experience, strong knowledge of laying and compaction, and the ability to coordinate people, plant, and trucks under changing conditions. A current Class 2 licence with WTR endorsements is required.

Qualifications

• Proven asphalt paving experience with crew leadership on active sites.
• Strong knowledge of asphalt laying, compaction, levels, joints, and finish quality.
• Confidence coordinating people, plant, trucks, and changing site conditions.
• A collaborative, accountable approach with safety and quality focus.
• Current Class 2 licence minimum with WTR endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Support daily workflow on site and help the team deliver work safely, on time, and to a high standard.
• Complete asphalt labouring and machine operating tasks, including equipment checks, material handling, and keeping site tidy.
• Take part in pre-starts, understand hazards and controls, and follow safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Operate machinery and tools safely and only when trained and licensed.
• Help guide less experienced team members and step into Foreperson’s role when required.
