Job summary

ALS in Hamilton's Dairy division operates a modern laboratory and is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support a 1-year parental leave cover. You will prepare and dispatch samples, maintain equipment, and ensure a clean and safe workspace in a high-throughput setting.

The ideal candidate will have a science qualification or lab certificate, strong communication and organisational skills, and a commitment to quality and client service.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a laboratory certificate or qualification in science.
• Good chemical knowledge.
• Understanding of safety precautions when working with samples of unknown hazard.

Responsibilities

• Weighing, preparing and extracting of Dairy sample for analysis.
• Preparation of calibration standards and reagents.
• Ability to continually learn and improve processes.
• Maintain quality and data integrity within the laboratory.
• Ensuring client turnaround times are met.
• Ensuring the laboratory operates in an efficient and safe manner.

About the Position:

The Food Division operates a modern laboratory in Hamilton that is equipped with the latest in analytical technology.

They’re seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the Dairy team in a 1-year parental leave cover. This hands‑on role includes preparing and dispatching samples, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment, and ensuring a clean, safe work environment.

Ideally, you’ll have a science qualification or lab certificate, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to quality, safety, and client service. Experience in a high-throughput lab environment is preferred.

This is a 1 year fixed‑term position; Monday to Friday 8AM to 4:30PM.

The Day to Day

The successful applicants will undertake a range of duties including the following:

• Weighing, preparing and extracting of Dairy sample for analysis
