Job summary

Scientific & Technical Recruitment in Auckland, New Zealand, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join an innovative green technology team. This hands-on role supports research, product development and the production of biological materials used in testing and development programmes.

You will prepare media, inoculate and support fermentation activities, producing high-quality samples while following SOPs and documenting results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in microbiology or related field.
• Hands-on microbiology exposure through study or lab work.
• Comfort with physical laboratory tasks and larger batch preparations.
• Good understanding of aseptic technique, quality procedures and accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare media and biological materials for laboratory and development work.
• Carry out inoculation and support fermentation and sample production activities.
• Produce high-quality samples in accordance with SOPs and laboratory procedures.
• Assist with viability, contamination and other analytical testing.
• Support process and fermentation improvement experiments.

Are you an early-career science graduate looking to build practical laboratory experience in an innovative R&D environment? We are working with an exciting green technology business seeking a Laboratory Technician to join its scientific team. This is a hands-on role supporting research, product development and the production of biological materials used in testing and development programmes. This isn\'t a role where you\'ll spend all day sitting at a bench. You\'ll be working with relatively large batches, preparing media, carrying out inoculation and supporting fermentation activities, so you\'ll need to be comfortable with the physical and practical side of laboratory work. Starting as a temporary position, there is excellent potential for the opportunity to become permanent for the right person.

What you will do

• Prepare media and biological materials for laboratory and development work
• Carry out inoculation and support fermentation and sample production activities
• Produce high-quality samples in accordance with SOPs and laboratory procedures
• Assist with viability, contamination and other analytical testing
• Support process and fermentation improvement experiments

What we are looking for

• Bachelor\'s degree in microbiology, biological sciences, biotechnology or a related field
• Some practical exposure to microbiology through study or previous laboratory work
• Comfortable undertaking physical laboratory work and handling larger batch preparations
• Good understanding of aseptic technique, quality procedures and accurate documentation
