Job summary

Heritage Lifecare in Dunedin is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join Redroofs Lifecare. You will help provide meals for residents within a busy rest-home kitchen, supporting the cook and the team.

No prior experience required as on-the-job training is provided; this is a permanent part-time role (4 hours per week) with opportunities for development in a caring, whānau environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen, preferably a commercial kitchen; on the job training provided.
• Basic cookery and food hygiene skills.
• Very good interpersonal and communication skills; team environment; weekend availability; Nga Paerewa and Treaty standards awareness.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing meals for residents in Redroofs Lifecare.
• Support the cook and kitchen team in daily tasks in a busy rest home kitchen.
• Perform manual tasks and maintain cleanliness and safety in the kitchen.

About this role

• Redroofs Lifecare in the city of Dunedin
• Permanent Part-time (4 hours per week)

Our Kitchen Assistants are responsible for helping to provide meals for our residents at Redroofs Lifecare, working within a cohesive and well-established team environment. We only want the best for our residents, which is why we are seeking a reliable, helpful professional. This is an opportunity to work in an environment where we value career pathways and positive work ethics. This is a busy rest home kitchen where you will be undertaking manual tasks and assisting the cook as requested.Experience is not essential as on the job training will be provided to ensure you succeed in this position. This is a physical role where time on your feet is needed, and a good level of physical fitness is required.

Skills & Experience

• Experience working in a kitchen, preferably a commercial kitchen would be preferred however on the job training will be provided.
• Basic cookery and food hygiene skills.
• Very good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work within a team environment and be a team player.
• Availability for morning, afternoon and weekend shifts.
• Understanding of Nga Paerewa sector standards and applying the Treaty of Waitangi standards in the workplace.
