Job summary

Cashmere View Care Home, part of Bupa Group, is looking for a Kitchen Assistant on a casual basis to support Chefs in preparing nutritious meals for residents. Join a team focused on wellbeing and quality service in a Christchurch setting.

Ideal candidates have some kitchen experience or willingness to learn, a team mindset, and the ability to work rosters, including weekends. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ and have reliable transport.

Qualifications

  • 1 year experience in a kitchen/food service is preferred or training will be provided.
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently when needed.
  • Demonstrates empathy and enthusiasm for residents.
  • Able to work rostered and rotating shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • General kitchen duties including dishwashing and cleaning.
  • Assist with food preparation for residents.
  • Adhere to hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of residents and operations.
  • Follow Health and Safety procedures.

Job description

Food makes such a difference to the residents’ lives which is why the Cashmere View Care Home is searching for a Kitchen Assistant to support the Chefs with providing deliciously nutritious meals for the residents to enjoy. This is a great opportunity for those who are wanting to work on a Casual basis and to get a foot in the door to the catering industry.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • General kitchen duties (dishwashing and cleaning).
  • Assist with food preparation.
  • Adhere to Hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Follow Health and Safety procedures.
About You
  • Ideally, you will have one year’s work experience in a similar role, however, we will provide training and support with career development.
  • You will be a team player, with the ability to work independently, and who is prepared to roll up your sleeves and get stuck into to whatever needs to get done.
  • Demonstrate empathy, enthusiasm, and have a genuine passion for making a difference to residents.
  • Ability to work rostered and rotating shifts (including weekends).
  • Reliable transport or travel arrangements.
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
