Job summary

The Cathedral Grammar School in Christchurch, South Island, is seeking an energetic and experienced teacher to join our junior team for the first three terms of 2027. This role focuses on early years transition and building positive relationships with students and their whānau.

An understanding of the needs of children entering school, a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and strong pedagogy are essential. Experience with Structured Literacy and/or music is advantageous; teamwork is valued.

Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher

We are looking for an energetic and experienced teacher to join us for the first three terms of 2027. This position is likely to be in the junior area of the school.

An understanding of the unique needs of children when they first enter school is an important part of this position. You will have a proven ability to build strong and positive relationships with children as well as their whānau.

Creating a caring and supportive classroom environment that nurtures children as they transition to our school is key.

A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi which is reflected in your classroom practice is important to us.

Experience in or a commitment to Structured Literacy and/or music will be an advantage.
