Job summary

Datamine Limited in Auckland invites a junior data engineer to join our Data Engineering/Ops team. You’ll monitor, maintain and build data environments, tackle client tickets, and support our Infrastructure group, starting with daily checks and data tasks.

As you grow, you’ll work on SQL, Python, and Datamart development, contribute to automation, and help expand our AI-enabled toolkit. You’ll be encouraged to own outcomes, collaborate, and learn in a flexible, values-driven environment.

Qualifications

• University degree in technology or data-related field or equivalent infra experience with coding
• Programming experience with SQL, Python, or R
• Hands-on use of AI tools in study/work/projects
• Grounding in databases (SQL) and DBMS concepts
• Exposure to Linux and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) is a plus
• Practical work experience, part-time, holiday work or projects welcome
• Team-first mindset and growth mentality

Responsibilities

• Run daily checks across Datamine's environments and flag issues
• Handle client tickets and keep stakeholders updated
• Support Infrastructure with monitoring, backups, and routine maintenance
• Develop and release code; work on SQL, Python, Datamart tasks
• Collaborate with the team and contribute ideas to solutions
• Communicate progress and potential issues to Client Services
