Job summary

Halter is seeking a Junior Field Technician to be a core part of the Field Team, keeping our collar fleet moving across farms in your region. Youll connect on-farm activities with the engineering team in Auckland to ensure collars reach farms, are tracked, and returned to HQ when required.

Youll cover the length and breadth of the country, with up to 2 nights away from home per week in a fixed-term role requiring a proactive, upbeat attitude.

Qualifications

• NZ Class 1 driver7s license required.
• Experience on-farm is preferred, beef/dairy experience a bonus.
• Excellent communication with farmers and field teams.
• Physically fit for field work and manual tasks.
• Reliable, punctual and accountable when on-site or on the road.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently or with the team.

Responsibilities

• Build daily travel plans and use route tools to visit farms efficiently.
• Drive between farms and manage collar stock on farms.
• Dispatch urgent spare collars to farms when needed.
• Ship collars back to Auckland and keep logistics running.
• Conduct hardware audits and trials on farms.
• Be a positive, professional Halter ambassador on-site.

About the role

We're building something special at Halter, and we need the right people on the road to make it happen. As a Junior Field Technician, you'll be a core part of our Field Team, keeping our collar fleet moving across farms throughout your dedicated region. You’ll serve as a key connection between what happens on-farm and the engineering team back in Auckland, making sure collars get to the right farms, are tracked accurately, and come back to HQ when needed. You'll cover the length and breadth of the country, operating on a continuous farm visit loop. Expect to be on the move and spending up to 2–3 nights away from home per week. This is a fixed-term role where attitude is everything and we are on the hunt for an upbeat go-getter.

What you'll do

• Build your daily travel plan and use route optimisation tools to hit every farm efficiently

• Hit the road, driving between farms

• Manage collar stock on customer farms, making sure levels are accurate and nothing slips through the cracks

• Pack and dispatch urgent spare collars to farms that need them fast

• Ship collars back to AKL HQ and keep logistics running smoothly

• Conduct hardware audits and trials on customer farms.

• Be a positive, professional face of Halter when you're on-farm with our customers

What You Will Bring

• Full clean NZ Class 1 driver’s license, non-negotiable - you’ll be clocking serious km's

• On-farm experience (bonus points if you’ve worked with either beef or dairy cows)

• A communicator who leaves farmers feeling good about Halter - your interactions matter!

• Physically fit and up for the manual side of the work

• Reliable, punctual, and someone who takes ownership, if you say you’ll be there, you’re there

• A strong work ethic with a track record to back it up

• Comfortable working independently on the road and as part of a team when back at base

You'll be out in the field, boots on the ground, driving between farms, working with farmers, and helping deliver one of the most exciting agricultural tech products in the world.
