Job summary

Precision Construction in Auckland, North Island, seeks a Junior Assistant Accountant or Graduate Accountant for an 8-month fixed-term contract. You will work with experienced finance professionals on financial accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable, ERP systems and month-end support.

Ideal candidates hold a NZ-recognised Accounting degree, are proficient in Excel, detail-oriented, well organised, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support finance team across accounting, AP and admin tasks.

With one of our finance team heading off on parental leave, we need a motivated Junior Assistant Accountant or Graduate Accountant to step in for approximately 8 months on a fixed-term contract. You'll sit alongside an experienced Financial Controller and Management Accountant, gaining hands-on experience across financial accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable, ERP systems and month-end support, and real exposure to how a project-based business runs.

What the job looks like

You'll support the finance team across a variety of financial accounting, accounts payable and administration functions, including:

• Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Fixed asset register maintenance and month-end workpaper preparation
• Processing supplier invoices, credit cards, and payment runs
• Supplier query resolution and holding invoice management
• New supplier and job setup, and master data maintenance
• Ad hoc reporting and finance administration support

About you

• A New Zealand recognised Accounting degree
• Strong with Excel and attention to detail
• Organised, proactive, and eager to learn and develop
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Ideally you will also have:

• 1 to 2 years' accounting experience, or recent accounting graduate status with practical accounting experience through internships or part-time roles
• Experience using Xero
• An interest in pursuing CA or CPA studies
