Job summary

Lighthousefinancial in Auckland is seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join our team. This role offers hands-on experience in tax, financial statements, and client service.

You will work closely with Directors and Managers, assist with GST returns, and support day-to-day accounting tasks while growing professionally in a collaborative, growth-focused culture.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or working towards one).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficiency with accounting software (Xero, MYOB) preferred.
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of tax returns, financial statements, and other tax-related documentation to a high professional standard.
• Support in the preparation and filing of GST returns.
• Liaise with clients to gather requirements, provide updates, and ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
• Stay up to date with accounting innovations, tax legislation, and regulatory changes.
• Collaborate closely with Directors, Managers, and colleagues to help achieve business objectives.
• Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and ownership of assigned tasks.
• Support with financial analysis, data entry, general administration duties, and other related accounting functions as required.
• Provide administrative support for Trust clients.
