Job summary

OceanaGold in Waihi, New Zealand, is seeking a skilled LHD operator to support safe ore transport and development work. This on-site role offers a hands-on position with opportunities to contribute to site safety, equipment checks, and effective handovers.

You will engage with charge crews and mining personnel to ensure smooth operations and adherence to procedures, while supporting training and continuous improvement on shift.

Qualifications

• Experience with safe LHD operations in underground or surface settings.
• Ability to perform risk assessments and follow procedures.
• Perform pre-starts, checks and handovers according to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform risk assessments during course of duties.
• Perform pre-starts and checks on equipment, ground conditions, and consumables.
• Follow procedures when relieving operators.
• Liaise with charge crew and other mining personnel.
• Lead by example and fulfil all trained and competent roles.
• Participate in shift change-over and report paperwork and procedures.
• Use time management systems and maintain cost-effective practices.
• Assist training and development of other mine operators.

To carry out safe LHD Operations including the removal and transport of ore material from stopes to tipples, stockpiles or trucks either by direct operation of the loader or remotely using LOS (or Teleremote) systems.Cleaning out development headings and performing clean-ups as per standard and transporting waste material to trucks and backfilling stopes.
