Job summary

OceanaGold in Otago, New Zealand, seeks a Jumbo Operator to join our residential Macraes Underground Operations. Live and work locally with a 7 on / 7 off, 12-hour shift pattern and a drive-in, drive-out setup from nearby towns.

The role focuses on safe jumbo drilling, heading development, and ground support installation in a dynamic mining environment. Ideal candidates will have at least 10 years of underground mining experience, with 5 years on a Jumbo, plus Bolt/Mesh installation skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years underground mining experience, 5 on a Jumbo is preferred.
• Competence at installation of bolts and mesh and at boring headings, including declines.
• Experience operating Sandvik JumboDrills.
• Experience with Spiling and SDA’s advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate Jumbo development drills to mine headings and install ground support per minimum standards.
• Ensure all headings are mined to size, online and gradient.
• Ensure ground support is installed to minimum standard or above as required.
• Undertake all tasks safely or stop the job.
• Mentor trainee operators and promote a positive team culture.

This is a residential role—live and work in the stunning region of Otago, NewZealand.

Our Macraes Underground Operations team are on the hunt for a Jumbo Operator.

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate Jumbo development drills in order to mine headings and install ground support as per minestandards
• Ensuringall headings are mined to size, online andgradient.
• Ensure all ground support is installed to minimum standard or above asrequired.
• Undertake all tasks safely or stop thejob.
• Ability to accurately markup faces to Mine plans and Memos and follow thoseplans.
• As senior team members you will promote apositive team culture, lead by example and mentor traineeoperators.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10years underground mining experience, 5on aJumbo ispreferred.
• Competence at installation of bolts and mesh and at boring headings, includingdeclines.
• Proven experience operating Sandvik JumboDrills.
• Experience with Spiling and SDA’s advantageous
• Experience as aLoader Operator and Development ChargeUp.
• Current full driverslicense
• Current First Aid Certificate.
