Job summary

Bupa Tōtara Gardens Care Home in Whangārei is seeking a part-time Household team member. You will provide cleaning and laundry services to a high standard, ensuring residents’ rooms and public areas are pristine.

You’ll work a 21-hour week with a mix of morning and afternoon shifts on a rotating 4-on, 2-off pattern. Join our Household team and help create a clean, healthy place for residents to thrive, while adhering to safety policies and handling clothing with care.

Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping experience is preferred.
• Take pride in high-quality household services.
• Ability to work well independently and in a team.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm and care for residents.
• Flexible availability including weekends and evenings.
• Reliable transport or travel arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient, high-standard cleaning and laundry services.
• Follow daily cleaning schedule for residents' rooms and public areas.
• Care for residents' personal clothing and return to owners.
• Operate all laundry equipment safely.
• Report faults or supply needs to the manager.
• Manage supplies to minimise wastage.
• Adhere to Health & Safety policies and safe chemical handling.
• Treat residents with respect and dignity.

Hours & Roster Details:

• Employment Type:Permanent Part-Time
• Hours:Average 21 hours per week
• Shift Time:Mix of 08:00am - 3:30pm shifts and 2:30pm-6:30 pm shifts
• Roster Pattern:4 days on, 2 days off(6-weekly rotating roster across Monday - Sunday)

The purpose of this job

Located in Tikipunga, Whangārei, Bupa Tōtara Gardens Care Home is a modern, purpose-built care home offering a contemporary Rest Home, Hospital, Dementia Care, and Care Suites.

As part of our Household team, you will:

• Provide efficient, and hygienic cleaning and laundry services to a high standard.
• Complete all daily cleaning tasks set by the cleaning schedule, ensuring that residents’ rooms, public areas, and laundry are in perfect order.
• Ensure all care is taken with the residents' personal clothing and returned to owners.
• Operate all laundry equipment as specified.
• Report to the manager any faults, issues, or when supplies need replacement.
• Manage supplies economically, avoiding wastage.
• Adhere to Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe chemical use and storage.
• Treat residents with respect and dignity.

• Show an ability to work well individually and with a team to create a smooth workflow.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm, care, and passion for making a difference in our residents’ lives while communicating well with others.
• Flexible availability for a variety of shifts throughout the week, including weekends and evenings.
• Reliable transport or travel arrangements.
