Job summary

Global Wave Group in Albany, Auckland is seeking a Java Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems powering critical business applications. You will work closely with product managers, QA, and other developers to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performance solutions in an office-based, Monday–Friday schedule.

This role requires 3+ years of Java development, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices, with strong SQL and ORM experience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong experience with Java 8+ and Spring Boot.
• Solid RESTful API design and development knowledge.
• Experience with Microservices Architecture.
• Strong SQL skills with MySQL.
• Experience with ORM frameworks (MyBatis, Hibernate, or JPA).
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of software design principles and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Proficient in Chinese, both written and spoken.

Java Backend Engineer – Global Wave Group

Location: Albany, Auckland (Office based)

Working hours: 2 - 10:30 P.M. from Monday to Friday

Reports to: Head of IT

Role Purpose

The Java Backend Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that power critical business applications. This role will work closely with product managers, QA engineers, and fellow developers to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Build scalable RESTful APIs and microservices
• Design and optimize database structures and queries
• Integrate with third-party systems and external APIs

Essential Requirements
