Job summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced iOS Engineer in Auckland to design, develop, and modernize financial services mobile apps. You will collaborate with product, design, QA, and backend teams to deliver secure, scalable iOS solutions using Swift and SwiftUI.

The role requires deep knowledge of MVVM/MVC, REST APIs, and CI/CD practices, with a strong emphasis on security and performance. You will mentor juniors and help establish engineering best practices in a fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of iOS development experience.
• Strong Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit expertise.
• Experience delivering mobile apps in fintech/digital payments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality iOS apps using Swift and SwiftUI.
• Lead modernization of legacy mobile apps and adopt modern architecture patterns.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, UX Designers, Architects, QA, and backend engineers to deliver mobile solutions.
• Integrate apps with cloud-native and enterprise backends via APIs and microservices.
• Implement secure coding practices, authentication, encryption, and data protection for financial apps.

About the Role:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI.
• Lead the modernization of legacy mobile applications and drive adoption of contemporary mobile architecture patterns.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, UX Designers, Architects, QA teams, and backend engineers to deliver innovative mobile solutions.
• Integrate mobile applications with cloud-native and enterprise backend services through APIs and microservices.
• Implement secure coding practices, authentication mechanisms, encryption, and compliance controls required for financial services applications.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, release management, and automated testing frameworks.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
• Ensure application reliability, scalability, performance optimization, and monitoring.

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in iOS application development.
• Strong expertise in Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and modern iOS frameworks.
• Experience delivering mobile applications within banking, payments, digital wallets, or fintech environments.
• Strong understanding of mobile application architecture patterns such as MVVM, MVC, and Clean Architecture.
• Experience integrating RESTful APIs and cloud-based services.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices for mobile development.
• Strong understanding of application security, OAuth, OpenID Connect, biometric authentication, and data protection.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development practices.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
