Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Syft's product is growing and scaling, so we're on the lookout for a new Full Stack Developer to join us and help us become the go-to supplier of real-time gas monitoring analytics.

You'll build software that enables customers to automate gas sample delivery, analyse data in real time, and visualise results. Working across the full stack, you'll develop user interfaces, integrations, APIs and back-end infrastructure, that connects devices, systems and people. This is a hands-on, technical role where coding is your focus. You'll tackle increasingly complex engineering problems, contribute to design decisions, and take ownership of delivering features that matter. Much of the challenge in this role involves real-time data, system integration, event-driven architecture and software that drives physical hardware and devices. Along the way, you'll grow your skills in planning, estimating, and communicating technical solutions, working closely across a variety of teams such as hardware, software, production and even field teams.

You'll collaborate directly with Syft's Product Operations Manager and technical leadership to provide effective solutions to complex real-world challenges. We thrive on agility, rapid iteration, and experimentation, so you'll have the freedom to innovate while seeing your work make a tangible impact for our customers.

As an intermediate level developer, you'll be supported by experienced senior engineers while being given the autonomy to take ownership of features, contribute to technical decisions and grow your capability over time. This role isn't just about coding, it's about shaping software that creates real value, solves meaningful problems, and drives Syft's mission forward.

Our salary range is intentionally wide as we're interested in hearing from talented developers across a range of experience levels, from graduates ready to grow their careers through to senior developers looking to make an impact.

About Syft

At Syft, we're a global team spread across six countries and more than 20 nationalities. We value openness, collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement. We move quickly, learn constantly, and work together to build technology that delivers genuine value to our customers.

Based out of the Christchurch Head Office, you'll collaborate with colleagues across New Zealand, Asia, Europe, and the United States while contributing to products used in global markets.

What you will be doing
  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack solutions that power Syft's customer-facing software, writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code across the entire stack.
  • Build and integrate APIs and services that connect systems and enable real-time insights.
  • Ensure software is secure, high-performing, and scalable to meet growing customer needs.
  • Collaborate through code reviews, sharing knowledge and learning from peers to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to keep the software reliable and robust.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across the stack, including escalated support cases, turning problems into solutions.
  • Break down features into manageable tasks, estimate effort, and communicate timelines effectively.
  • Own assigned features end-to-end, coordinating closely with Product Operations and Integration teams.
  • Explain technical concepts clearly, whether you're talking to engineers, customers or non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to discussions about design quality, best practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Join our AGILE ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives to drive team efficiency and value delivery.

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for team collaboration
  • Effective time management and ability to work across diverse teams
  • Willingness to share knowledge and support the development of peers
  • Understanding of AGILE principles and experience in SCRUM or similar frameworks.

  • Experience with Docker and Docker Compose
  • Familiarity with GraphQL and ORMs (e.g. Prisma)
