Job summary

PlaceMakers Christchurch in Te Anau is seeking a proactive inventory controller to join our team. This permanent full-time role focuses on managing stock levels, processing deliveries, and supporting Yard & Drive Thru operations to ensure smooth daily branch activity.

You will track stock using internal systems, handle returns and discrepancies, and deliver outstanding service to trade, business, and homeowner customers. A collaborative, detail-oriented mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in inventory management, stock control, or inward goods in retail/trade/distribution.
• Strong computer literacy and numerical skills; quick to learn new systems and processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and a natural ability to solve problems.

Responsibilities

Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and organised team member to join our Te Anau branch. This is a pivotal role responsible for managing inventory and maintaining stock levels, while also providing support across our Yard & Drive Thru operations.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Using internal systems and digital tools to accurately track, process, and record daily deliveries
• Managing special orders and ensuring clear, timely communication with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
• Receiving and checking incoming stock, investigating discrepancies, and resolving out-of-stock items efficiently
• Processing product returns, repairs, and warranty claims, while following up to ensure successful outcomes
• Delivering outstanding customer service to our trade, business, and homeowner customers, creating a positive experience with every interaction
• Supporting the wider branch team as required to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

This is a permanent full-time role, offering 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday with rosters Saturdays.

• Experience in inventory management, stock control, or inwards goods, ideally within a retail, trade, or distribution environment
• Strong computer literacy and numerical skills, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes
• Excellent attention to detail and a natural ability to solve problems
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while remaining calm under pressure
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, enabling you to connect with people from a wide range of backgrounds
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative and high-performing team
