Job summary

Fletcher Building in Auckland seeks an Internal Key Account Manager to support the sales team by handling key customer inquiries, offering product advice, and preparing quotes. You will ensure on-time deliveries and project alignment through clear communication.

The role requires experience in internal sales or KAM, strong relationship-building, and the ability to work across multiple systems. A NZ Class 1 licence and physical capability for lifting are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in internal sales or key account management
• Experience in plumbing or building materials is highly desirable
• Full NZ Class 1 drivers’ licence is mandatory

Responsibilities

• Engage with key customers face-to-face, by phone, and by email
• Prepare quotes, process orders, and manage sales documentation
• Understand customer needs and provide tailored solutions
• Coordinate with site managers and arrange timely deliveries
• Liaise with suppliers to confirm availability and special requirements
• Assist on the trade counter and support cycle counting and delivery driving
• Maintain store cleanliness and uphold safety standards

Fletcher Building – Auckland, North Island

As an Internal Key Account Manager (IKAM), you’ll provide seamless service and essential internal support to our customers. With a flexible, can-do attitude you’ll work closely with our sales team, manage key customer inquiries, offer product advice, prepare quotes, and deliver tailored solutions ensuring deliveries happen on time and their projects stay on track through clear communication and timely updates.

• Engage regularly with our key customer face-to-face, over the phone, and via email
• Recommend suitable products, prepare quotes, process orders, and manage sales documentation
• Understand our customers’ needs and provide professional tailored solutions
• Coordinate with Site Managers, track orders, and arrange timely deliveries to meet project deadlines
• Communicate delivery times clearly and ensure orders are prepared for dispatch
• Liaise with suppliers to confirm product availability and manage special requirements
• Assist on the trade counter, support cycle counting and help with delivery driving when required
• Maintain cleanliness and uphold safety standards through general store housekeeping

Permanent full-time role based at Mico Cook Street (Auckland CBD) offering 40 hours per week Monday to Friday

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will be more than just a sales support person, you’ll be a natural communicator and relationship builder who understands the needs of our key account customer. Your experience in the plumbing or building industry means you will know how to connect with our customer, identify opportunities, and act as a trusted advisor providing solutions that make a real impact while keeping the customers at the heart of everything you do.

• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and perform under pressure
• Highly organised with sharp attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Tech-savvy and comfortable working across multiple systems
• Full NZ Class 1 drivers’ licence is a must
• Physically fit and comfortable with heavy lifting (25kgs) and manual handling tasks
• Proven experience in a similar internal sales or key account manager role
• Strong knowledge of plumbing or building materials & a solid understanding of construction processes
