Job summary

Porirua City Council is seeking an experienced Communications Advisor to join the Communications, Engagement and Marketing team. You will craft storytelling, develop written content for newsletters, websites and intranet, and support multiple channels to keep residents and staff informed.

You will contribute to internal communications and cross-team collaboration, and participate in SharePoint intranet rollout projects. A strong background in communications is essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Several years’ experience in a communications advisor role.
• Strong writing, editing and oral communication skills.
• Experience producing content for a variety of channels and platforms.
• Experience communicating with a diverse range of audiences.
• Digital skills and SharePoint experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Tell stories in a simple, authentic and engaging way.
• Create high-quality written material for news releases, newsletters, websites and other media across channels.
• Be an active, engaged member of the communications team.
• Be a generalist with a focus on internal communications to keep the organisation connected.
• Work on projects including a new SharePoint intranet rollout.
