Job summary

Calc Business Advisors & Chartered Accountants in Whakatāne is seeking an intermediate accountant who will own a client book from start to final sign-off. You’ll work with a close-knit team and have direct support from a director, handling a range of work from trusts to growing local businesses.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a chartered accounting practice.
• Accounting degree required; CA study a plus.
• Strong Xero skills with XPM/FYI experience beneficial.
• Ability to autonomously manage a client workload.
• Clear, plain-English client communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare annual accounts and tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, estates and individuals.
• Prepare and file GST returns.
• Finalising jobs once clients have signed.
• Trust admin, from gifting to wind-ups.
• Being the go-to person for your own clients, and keeping your jobs moving in XPM.
• Helping clients with the IRD, including instalment arrangements and debt applications.

We're Calc, a chartered accounting and advisory firm in Whakatāne. We go beyond the numbers for business owners, trusts and families across the Eastern Bay, and we're looking for an intermediate accountant who likes owning a job from the first box of receipts to the final sign-off.

What you'll be doing

• Annual accounts and tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, estates and individuals
• Preparing and filing GST returns
• Finalising jobs once clients have signed
• Trust admin, from gifting to wind-ups
• Being the go-to person for your own clients, and keeping your jobs moving in XPM
• Helping clients with the IRD, including instalment arrangements and debt applications

What you'll bring

• At least 3 years in a chartered accounting practice
• A relevant degree, with CA study a plus
• Strong Xero skills. XPM and FYI experience helps
• The confidence to run your own workload without needing your hand held
• A plain-English way of explaining things, because clients want answers, not jargon
