Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

More than compliance. Build relationships, develop your CA, and grow with a modern advisory-led firm.

Kumeu, Auckland | Full-time

Not Your Traditional Accounting Firm

Evolve Accounting is an award-winning Chartered Accounting and Business Advisory practice based in Kumeū, north-west Auckland.

We believe accounting is changing. Technology and AI are creating new opportunities to automate routine tasks, giving accountants more time to do what really matters - build relationships, solve problems, and help business owners achieve their goals.

That's why we continue to build a firm that's advisory-led, technology-enabled, and focused on creating meaningful impact for our clients.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join our Kumeū team and become an important part of that journey.

The Opportunity

At Evolve, we're intentionally creating more space for our Client Managers to focus on what matters most - building relationships, delivering proactive advice, and helping business owners achieve their goals.

To support this vision, this newly created role will play a key part in creating capacity across the business by supporting our Client Managers with compliance delivery, client service, and workflow coordination.

This isn't simply a compliance role. It's an opportunity to become a trusted support to our Client Managers, helping ensure our clients receive exceptional service while developing your own technical and relationship skills along the way.

If you're working towards your CA and looking for a role that combines strong technical development with exposure to a modern, advisory-led firm, we'd love to hear from you.

How You’ll Contribute
  • Completing workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Assisting with provisional tax and other compliance obligations
  • Responding to client accounting, tax, and Xero enquiries
  • Taking ownership of routine client enquiries and ensuring clients receive timely, professional support
  • Liaising with clients to gather information required to complete work
  • Managing client follow-up and ensuring information is received in a timely manner
  • Assisting with workflow progression and helping keep jobs moving efficiently through the practice
  • Identifying potential issues, risks, or opportunities and escalating these to the appropriate Client Manager
  • Supporting the delivery of a consistent, positive client experience
  • Assisting the wider team during peak workflow periods
  • Assisting Client Managers with any specific new client onboarding tasks as required
About You

This role is suited to someone who enjoys helping others, communicating well, taking ownership, and continuously looking for better ways to work.

We're looking for someone who -

  • Communicates confidently and professionally, both in writing and over the phone
  • Builds trust through reliability, responsiveness, and attention to detail
  • Enjoys building genuine relationships with clients and understanding what matters to them
  • Is naturally curious and enjoys learning new skills, systems, and ways of working
  • Can manage multiple priorities and keep work moving, even when things get busy
  • Is proactive in identifying issues, following up outstanding items, and keeping others informed
  • Values collaboration and enjoys being part of a supportive team environment

You’ll also bring -

  • Currently working towards, or ready to commence your CA qualification
  • 3-4 years experience working in a New Zealand public practice accounting firm
  • Experience preparing annual financial statements, tax returns, and GST returns
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand tax law

  • Strong working knowledge of Xero and cloud-based accounting systems
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, team focused attitude
