Job summary

Arrowtown School is seeking an enthusiastic Specialist Science Teacher to deliver dynamic science education for New Entrants through Year 8. The role includes 1 hour per class weekly of targeted science instruction and leading the updated 2027 science curriculum adoption.

The successful candidate will provide CRT coverage, manage equipment, and collaborate with homeroom teachers to monitor student progress and engagement.

Qualifications

• Current NZ Teacher Registration and Practising Certificate.
• Passion for STEM and practical, hands-on science learning.
• Ability to manage classroom behaviour across diverse age groups.
• Familiarity with NZ Curriculum developments.
• Strong organisational skills for rotating schedules and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver an inquiry-based science program aligned with the refreshed 2027 Science Curriculum standards.
• Adapt teaching approaches across New Entrants to Year 8.
• Deliver specialist CRT sessions ensuring consistent learning during release times.
• Manage science equipment, orders and safety protocols.
• Track student engagement and communicate progress with homeroom teachers.
