Job summary

West Coast District Health Board in Greymouth seeks a Registered Nurse for our Inpatient Mental Health Unit. You will join a dedicated team delivering safe, recovery‑oriented care to adults within a supportive, culturally responsive framework in a rural setting.

You will perform assessments, care planning, risk assessments, and collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to promote wellbeing for clients and whānau, with emphasis on Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Pacific peoples' outcomes.

Qualifications

• Nursing Council registration (Mental Health scope).
• Annual Practising Certificate (APC) holder.
• Committed to culturally safe, person-centred care.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care in mental health.
• Strong documentation and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with talking therapies or brief interventions.
• Familiar with West Coast mental health services and supports.
• Cultural competency training or willingness to undertake it.
• PDRP portfolio development.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centred, recovery-oriented care aligned with mental health standards.
• Conduct psychiatric assessments, develop wellness and transition plans, and offer brief interventions.
• Work with clients and whānau to ensure culturally safe and responsive care.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Support better outcomes for Māori and Pacific peoples in line with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
