Job summary

Silver Fern Farms is seeking a Services Engineer to join our Pacific Site near Hastings. You will operate and maintain ammonia refrigeration, water reticulation, boilers, hot water, and ventilation systems on a rotating day/night shift, with some overtime and weekends.

You will bring an engineering qualification and hands-on experience with industrial refrigeration, utilities, and compliance. A proactive, safety-first mindset and strong coaching skills are essential to support maintenance staff

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification (trade, diploma, or degree in mechanical or services engineering).
• Experience with refrigeration, boilers or utilities in an industrial setting.
• Sound knowledge of compliance requirements, safe work practices, and permit systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain ammonia refrigeration and water reticulation systems.
• Oversee boilers, hot water, compressed air, and ventilation systems.
• Respond to breakdowns and restore full capacity quickly and safely.
• Support compliance with Building WOF, resource consents, and OSH requirements.
• Assist in training and mentoring maintenance staff in services areas.
• Contribute to energy conservation and efficiency improvements.
