Job summary

Freedom Lifestyle Villages is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Engineer in Canterbury, NZ. You will take ownership of industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia and freon plant equipment, and lead day-to-day maintenance and fault-finding.

The role involves hands-on work across preventative maintenance, upgrades, and capital projects, with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and performance improvements. A strong ammonia background and NZ-based presence are essential.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 Refrigeration qualification (or equivalent).
• Strong industrial refrigeration experience - ammonia experience is essential.
• Solid fault-finding skills and a practical, hands-on approach.
• Someone already based in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Looking after industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia and freon plant equipment.
• Fault finding, troubleshooting, and carrying out repairs.
• Preventative maintenance to keep the plant running at its best.
• Working alongside the wider engineering team on plant upgrades and capital projects.
• Helping identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and performance.
• Playing a key role in the ongoing development of the site's refrigeration plant.
