Job summary

Madison Recruitment is seeking a Financial Advisor for a respected public sector organisation in Wellington. This 12-month contract combines financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and advisory work to support informed decision-making and positive community outcomes.

You will report to the Senior Financial Advisor and provide financial advice, monitoring, and stakeholder reporting, with a focus on maintaining strong controls, supporting planning, and delivering accurate financial

Qualifications

3+ years’ experience in a finance, management accounting, or financial advisory role.
Strong financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical skills.
Experience investigating and resolving financial issues and audit queries.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Intermediate to advanced Excel capability.

Responsibilities

Providing financial advice and decision support to managers and stakeholders.
Monitoring, analysing, and forecasting financial performance.
Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and business planning activities.
Preparing monthly and year-end financial reporting.
Investigating and resolving financial issues, anomalies, and audit queries.
Providing financial advice and support relating to entitlements, funding, and reimbursement matters.
Building strong working relationships across the wider business and finance teams.
Maintaining strong financial controls and supporting audit requirements.
