Job description

About the Company
Our client is a large, well-established New Zealand food manufacturer supplying both domestic and international markets. This is a business where supply chain is treated as a core commercial function rather than a support one, and where integrated planning is being deliberately built into the way the business makes decisions. The planning team is being invested in, and this role sits at the centre of that.

The Role
Reporting to the Head of S&OP and based in Christchurch, you will own the integrated business planning cycle end to end and make sure it lands. You will run the monthly IBP rhythm, lead the tactical planning process that turns the agreed plan into an executable 0 to 13 week schedule, and hold the business to a single, reconciled plan that ties back to the financials and the strategy.

It is a genuinely broad role. Alongside the cycle itself you will lead and develop two S&OP planners, own the planning tools and the master data that sits behind them, and take a lead role in improvement projects. The first of these is a significant piece of work optimising the planning tools, software and technology the business runs on, so there is real scope to shape how planning is done here, not just administer it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and run the monthly IBP cycle across demand, supply, finance and executive review
  • Lead the ITP process and short-term planning across the 0 to 13 week horizon
  • Reconcile all plans back to financial measures and business strategy
  • Lead, coach and develop two S&OP planners, lifting capability across the team
  • Own planning tools, master data and parameters including lead times, MOQ and safety stock
  • Lead the planning technology and systems optimisation project
  • Run scenario and sensitivity analysis to support trade-off decisions at ELT level
  • Report on forecast accuracy, plan attainment, inventory turns and service performance

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in end-to-end demand, supply or production planning
  • Strong S&OP or IBP background, ideally within FMCG, food or manufacturing
  • Experience leading a monthly planning cycle and chairing cross-functional forums
  • People leadership experience, or clear readiness to take on a small team
  • Advanced Excel, with strong ERP and planning systems capability
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to connect planning decisions to financial outcomes
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in supply chain, business or operations management
  • Exposure to planning system implementation or optimisation highly regarded

About You
You are relationship-driven, and you get results. Both matter equally here. IBP only works when Sales, Operations, Finance and Supply Chain genuinely trust the process, and that trust is earned by the person running it. You are comfortable holding senior stakeholders to account without damaging the relationship, you back your recommendations with data, and you are the sort of planner who would rather fix the process than work around it.

What’s in it for you
You will own the planning cycle for a large New Zealand manufacturer and have the mandate to improve it, not just maintain it. The technology optimisation project gives you something tangible to put your name to early. You will work closely with the Head of S&OP, gain regular exposure to the executive team, and lead a small team you can genuinely develop.

  • $120,000 to $140,000 base salary
  • Leadership of a small, established planning team
  • Ownership of a significant planning systems improvement project
  • Regular exposure to the executive leadership team
  • On-site parking at the Christchurch base
