Our Christchurch-based team supports projects throughout Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region, using modern equipment and proven expertise to deliver safe, reliable and customer-focused outcomes for residential, commercial and industrial clients.

The Role

We are looking for a reliable, safety-focused Hydrovac Operator to join our Christchurch team and work across sites throughout Canterbury. In this key operational role, you will drive a hydrovac truck to site, safely excavate around underground utilities using high-pressure water and vacuum equipment, remove debris and fluids, and support our directional drilling crews to establish clear drill paths. You will also complete pre-start checks, establish safe work areas, care for the equipment, dispose of material appropriately and return the truck to the yard ready for the next job.

This is a hands-on, physical role that involves working outdoors in changing Canterbury conditions and interacting professionally with customers, contractors and members of the public. You may also be required to drive a transporter or other plant and assist our civil and build crews with general labouring duties. You will work both independently and as part of a team, following site controls and completing each job in line with health and safety requirements, customer expectations, design specifications and contract requirements.

What You Will Bring

• A current full New Zealand Class 4 driver licence (essential)
• Previous hydrovac, heavy vehicle, plant operation, civil construction or utilities experience (preferred)
• A strong and practical commitment to health, safety and environmental care
• A customer-focused approach, with clear communication and professional conduct on every site
• Proven reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic
• The physical fitness and resilience to complete hands-on work outdoors in varied conditions
• A positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to follow direction, learn and help where needed
