Job summary

Veolia Environmental Services is seeking a Jetter / Hydrovac Operator in Whanganui to operate truck-mounted high-pressure jetting and hydro-excavation units for water and wastewater infrastructure, and to maintain vehicles and equipment according to manufacturer and Veolia procedures. You will report to the Operations Manager, working with a team to ensure safe, compliant operations.

Requirements include a Class 2 license (Class 4 preferred), willingness to work out-of-hours and be on-call, and

Qualifications

• Level 3 or 4 in Works Infrastructure preferable (or alternative experience).
• Experience in water and / or wastewater treatment and / or water, wastewater andStormwater network operation and maintenance is considered advantageous.
• Experience in operating heavy plant or machinery.
• Must hold a driver's license (Class 2 minimum; Class 4 preferred or willing to obtain).
• Willing to work out-of-hours and participate in an on-call/weekend roster.
• Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Health and Safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Operate class 2/4 heavy vehicle plant and machinery to excavate for pipe installations, repairs, or renewals, and perform high-pressure water cleaning of sewer infrastructure.
• Safely removing and disposing of excavated material, entering confined spaces, working at heights, and managing site traffic plans.
• Direct subcontractors on-site and collaborate with team members to deliver a positive customer experience.

The Opportunity

The Jetter / Hydrovac Operator operates truck-mounted high-pressure jetting and hydro-excavation units for the Whanganui contract to install, renew, and repair water and wastewater infrastructure per manufacturer and Veolia procedures. The role is also responsible for maintaining vehicles and equipment according to Manufacturer Operations and Maintenance Manuals, Veolia procedures, and NZ law to keep equipment safe and operable.

What you'll be responsible for

Reporting to the Operations Manager, your key responsibilities include::

• Equipment & Vehicle Operation: Safely operating class 2/4 heavy vehicle plant and machinery to excavate for pipe installations, repairs, or renewals, as well as performing high-pressure water cleaning of sewer infrastructure for reactive and proactive maintenance.
• Site & Material Management: Safely removing and disposing of excavated material, entering confined spaces, working at heights, and managing site traffic management plans as needed.
• Supervision & Collaboration: Directing subcontractors on-site and collaborating with team members and contractors to deliver a positive customer experience.

What you'll need to be successful

Qualifications:

Level 3 or level 4 in Works Infrastructure preferable (or alternative experience)

Experience:

• Experience in water and / or wastewater treatment and / or water, wastewater andStormwater network operation and maintenance is considered advantageous.
• Previous experience in service delivery and / or trade is considered advantageous.
• Experience in operating heavy plant or machinery.
